Join the Journey of Discipleship at Brookhaven United Methodist Church
We believe that we are all called to a growing relationship with God through Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We call this relationship a journey because we are always moving toward a deeper understanding and commitment to God. The journey of discipleship begins at different points in our lives, and yet every one of us is the process of being molded and shaped by God. Therefore, we are never still or unchanging, but moving and growing always.
The mission of Brookhaven UMC is to invite you to join us on the journey of discipleship, empower you through a growing knowledge of the Bible and a deeper understanding of prayer, and engage you in serving others in the name of Jesus.
OUR MISSION: Invite, empower, and engage others on the Journey of Discipleship.
Matthew 5:43-45 - “[Love Your Enemies] "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” Brought to you by BibleGateway.com. Copyright (C) ESV. All Rights Reserved.
Start off the New Year by joining us on Sunday, January 3rd
at 11 am for the Feast of the Epiphany, a service of the Word
and Table. Rev. Sara Webb Phillips will be preaching the sermon
entitled, "The Main Thing". After worship, the Worship
Committee is hosting an "Un-Decorating Party" to put away
our Advent/Christmas decorations. All workers will be rewarded
with a gold star and pizza. Everyone is welcome!
Two new Sunday School classes begin Jan. 10th. Christian
Doctrine will be a peer guided study on the basic tenets of the
faith. The Gospel According to Andy Griffith is a video-based
study of how this popular TV show wove in biblical imagery and
moral principles.
This year the Clothes Closet will be open every Monday night
from 6:00 to 7:00 pm and the first Saturday of every month
from 10:30 - noon. This is a vital ministry of Brookhaven UMC
and serves those who are in need in our community. We are
in desperate need of good men's clothing: shoes, pants, shirts,
sweaters, coats, suits, undergarments, gloves, scarves, socks, etc.
Please donate your gently used items (no stains or holes, please)
by dropping them off at the church. Monetary donations may
be made and placed in the offering plate or mailed to the church,
with checks made out to Brookhaven UMC and marked
"Clothes Closet".
The new year promises to be an exciting one, filled with many
opportunities for learning and for service. We look forward
to seeing all our old friends and meeting new ones.
Won't you start the new year off by joining us?
