Young-At-Heart

The Case of the Pink Tutus and the Young-at-Heart

They were adorable in tiny pink ballerina outfits, with bows in their hair and bows on their shiny black dancing slippers. They watched intently, or not, as Ms. Berger led them in a song and dance revue. No matter if now and then one “heeled” while the others tapped. After all, this wasn’t Radio City Music Hall; this was the Fellowship Hall. And these weren’t the Rockettes; they were Ms. Berger’s preschool age (3-5) CDC dancers entertaining the Young-at-Heart at the June 19 meeting. They performed well, too, belting out old favorites like old pros. Thanks to Ms. Berger and the delightful CDC dancers!

Clyde Bales presided over the meeting with levity and offered a prayer of wonder and gratitude. The necessary business agenda was short and productive, followed by another Southern tradition: Methodist cooks. A few of our favorites were on the table: Fried chicken, cornbread and lima beans. There was a plentiful array of other favorites, too. Yummy!

It was fairly typical meeting, with the usual mix of fun, reverence and camaraderie. Don’t you wish you had been there? Well, you can. You don’t have to be a senior adult to enjoy the Young-at-Heart. Membership is open to all, regardless of age, who are truly young at heart. Come see for yourself! Remember, the next meeting is December 17 at 11 am in the Fellowship Hall.  Come join us!
